Our Mission

The Bernice Purple Orchid Nursing Legacy Fund honors a legacy of care by quietly supporting aspiring and newly licensed nurses.Through encouragement, practical assistance, and care passed forward, we aim to ease early transitions and remind nurses that their work-and their humanity-matters.

Living Legacy

Bernice graduated as a nurse in Wichita Falls,Texas in 1954 and carried that calling throughout her life. Known for her presence and quiet strength, she cared for others with dignity, compassion, and humility. Her legacy is not measured in titles or recognition , but in lives she touched and the care she gave faithfully, day after day.

In honor of Bernice's legacy, "Bernice and the Great Pecan Tree" is a children's book inspired by her life and the stories she shared. A portion of proceed Orchid Nursing Legacy.
